I wake to find, no peace of mind --
How did I get into this situation? The people I'm up against are just as ruthless as I am. It's just a job, so I know what I'm / they are capable of. I'm exhausted and fear that sleep will give them an upper hand allowing them to kill me while I am unprepared.
Then realizing his lack of sleep, the job, he realizes it's just a big game. That he is strong enough, smart enough, to out maneuver his opponent and he laughs at himself for being so paranoid. "They are JUST spies" mean they are doing a job, are not motivated, and are following orders. Soon the orders will change and he will be forgotten. He lives in a world of lies and deception and extreme cautiousness. It's exhausting for him to be the hunted instead of the Hunter.
