However, on Vh1 storytellers, Rob said he really just wrote the song to describe two co-dependent people that decide to be together just because they were both screwed up. He mentions that the band found out "bent" had alternative meanings only after it was written. In Europe it means gay, in australia it means toked. Thomas sums up that it's really written for the listener to draw their own conclusion on the meaning, it was never meant to be limited to one subject or one audience.
