"Dancing on the hood in the middle of the woods, on an old mustang, where we sang songs with all our childhood friends. And it went like this..", this verse probably means when Anne entered her teenage years, like 18 or 19, her friends all meet up in a spot they they did when they were kids, and sang songs about their childhood. The song is basically saying love can last forever and so can friendships. Hope this helps!
