Jun 14th 2016!⃝For me, I'm a rape victim. My boyfriend is helping me put the pieces back together so my own interpretation of the song is entirely personal. Rape is very detrimental. I am now and always will suffer from it.
(In these moments of lost in torment
When the vast skies don’t seem to call to you
When the weight of this world press down
And the stars have fallen like tears)
When you're raped, you lose your value. It's constant pain, you isolate yourself from the pressure of now having this on your shoulder. I now get to live with this my entire life. That's it.
(I am with you always
From the darkness of night to the morning
I am with you always
From the life until death takes me)
For me, this means protection. He will always be with me; for me. From the darkness of night [being fear, yes? Are you afraid of the dark?] to the morning.
(Monuments build to remembrance of me
The monuments fade, erode and decay
The memories of all that remains
As far as east is from the west, remember)
For a while, I was stuck in a place of religion that told me I wasn't going to be worth anything to anyone because I was used and damaged. If I wasn't a virgin, I wouldn't be any good. That all fell and faded when his love for me stretched from the east to the west. It's a monument of my past.
(When hope seems lost down and lowly
I am here with you always)
:)
[Also, I'm aware some of the lyrics may be off. Excuse that for me, please. Thank you.]
