The flower is deep red in color and is unique in that the color does not fade over time after it is picked (death or separation). The flower is actually a part of the original LP jacket artwork.
The initial music at the beginning of the song is about death or separation. “Funeral for a Friend”... The music advances slowly from the bells of death tolling, but if you listen closely as the song advances, those notes are still there. They change somewhat, but they are still there. The music mimics our feelings from first losing someone to slowly healing over time. But even later on “love lies bleeding” - the color/love is still present. It is always present...
