This song references Scott Stapp (lead singer)having to be raised in a heavily religious household and how his parents sought that he obey his religion. It also shows how Stapp's faith was not there hence the line "lies, lies, lies in my head" and how he wanted to get away from it all. In a documentary Stapp said that he always loved rock music as a child but it was looked down upon in his household as a child. It happened to be his escape.....
