Aug 19th 2015!⃝The song is about Andy's ex, Scout Taylor. He wrote it when he was 15 and moved from Ohio to California to pursue his dreams. When he came back, it turned out Scout cheated on him. So he now dedicates the song to his fans.
So, in general the song is about loving someone, no matter what or how far you are.
And yes, the title is "The Mortician's Daughter" because Scout's father is a mortician.
